I would consider Ash's chip 'proven,' at least to me. It's been out for what, 4 years now? I've had mine for over 2 years, and am very happy (and thankful for times it's saved my engine) with it. What I said a few posts up:His chip does not run as ruch as a JWT, but is also safer. People with a boost controller that go into a safety boost-inducing condition are in trouble: JWT does not back off timing, its primary and secondary (knock/problem condition) maps are the same. Ash's chip has retarded timing and increased fuel delivery under knock/problem conditions. So anyone running with the stock boost solenoids disabled (with a boost controller) will continue boosting under full timing during the problem condition with no idea (unless they hear severe detonation); Ash's chip takes these above mentioned measures to reduce the chance of engine failure from detonation and also simultaneously lets you know to let off (from the obvious power dropoff)- one of the main reasons I have Ash's chip. Also, a top gear programming change is made on Ash's and not JWT's; as 5th gear pulls put the most load on the engine and are usually done for extended lengths of time. I believe Ash's chip increases fuel delivery (or maybe decreases timing, have to ask him). I'm no minion of Ash's, but I take what I see and have experienced with his ecu, and I am fully satisfied knowing my Z is safer, quicker, more fuel efficient (I'm assuming since JWT runs a bit rich?), and can be driven hard when I (rarely) put the pedal down. And it's been that way for 2 years. No love lost for anyone, JWT or JWT ecu owners ;) My car was fine when I had one. It's a free world, do and say as you please. As for Seedy's comments, and others I know of - I don't discredit things you say, I don't know much about any stories of dissatisfaction with an Ashspec chip. And I've heard a few about JWT too. I'm simply saying I'm not in my little world saying 'Ashspec' is the only way to go. It's not. Nor is anyone perfect. I can go on what I have though, and that is an Ashspec ecu that I would say has saved my engine (re: boost controller situation above), and I've been happy with it for over 2 years. Peace out :) Kez
